ON Semiconductor’s high-speed bus switches are passive CMOS signal path devices, essentially functioning as controllable bidirectional analogue switches. They are used for digital bus multiplexing, module power domain isolation, and time-division multiplexing of memory and peripherals. The devices feature extremely low on-resistance, with signal pass-through exhibiting virtually no propagation delay and introducing no signal distortion, making them the preferred solution for on-board signal multiplexing.

II. Level Translator
Product Overview
With the emergence of multi-voltage-domain architectures in systems (1.0V core MCUs, 1.8V sensors, 3.3V communication chips, 5V peripherals), devices operating at different voltage levels cannot communicate directly. ON Semiconductor’s level translators are categorised into auto-sensing bidirectional types, transceiver types and I²C-specific open-drain types, enabling bidirectional conversion of logic signals between two independent power rails and resolving the challenges of cross-voltage-domain communication.
Key Technical Features
Dual independent power rail design: VCCA and VCCB are mutually independent, with a conversion range covering 0.9V to 5.5V; supports conversion between any high and low logic levels;
Automatic direction-sensing architecture: no external direction control pins required, significantly simplifying the peripheral circuitry;

Product Overview
As the number of native GPIO pins on an MCU is limited, port resources are often insufficient when connecting external buttons, LEDs, relays and multiple sensors. ON Semiconductor’s I/O expanders are primarily based on the I²C serial bus, utilising only two GPIO pins (SDA/SCL) on the host controller to expand multiple general-purpose GPIO channels.
